The porcelain lines we fabricate

We stock and cut five porcelain lines. Each one behaves a little differently on the saw, which is part of why we recommend by project rather than by brand.

• Dekton — Cosentino’s ultracompact surface. Dense and hard-wearing, a common pick for heavy-use kitchens and outdoor runs.
• Neolith — sintered stone in large formats, which means fewer seams on a big island. Sits at the upper end of the range.
• Antolini — Italian, and the closest of the five to a natural-stone look if that’s what you’re after.
• Xtone — Porcelanosa’s large-format porcelain. Strong option for full-height backsplashes and waterfall ends.
• Teracanto — LX Hausys. Made without resins or fillers, with veining carried through the body of select slabs rather than printed on top.

Where porcelain works best

Bathrooms and showers. Large-format slabs mean one or two seams across an entire enclosure instead of hundreds of grout joints — see porcelain slabs for shower walls.

Outdoor kitchens. Porcelain is UV-stable, so it won’t yellow or fade the way some engineered surfaces do. It’s one of the few surfaces we recommend without hesitation for custom outdoor kitchen countertops.

The honest tradeoffs

Porcelain is a genuinely good surface, but it isn’t the right call for every kitchen. Here’s what we tell clients before they commit.

• Edges are the weak point. The slab is thin, so a mitered edge is where chips happen — usually from something hard striking the corner, not from daily use.
• A chip is harder to fix than in quartz. Quartz has resin in it and takes a colour-matched repair well. Porcelain’s pattern sits on the surface, so an invisible repair isn’t always possible.
• Fabrication is the real variable. Porcelain needs specific blades, slower feed rates and steady water pressure. Not every shop is set up for it, and it shows in the edge quality.
• Fewer edge profiles. Because the material is thin, you won’t get an ogee or a full bullnose. Square, eased and mitered are the realistic options.
• It costs more than mid-range quartz. If budget is the deciding factor, quartz usually wins.

What porcelain countertops cost

Porcelain runs $90 to $160 per square foot installed. Neolith, Antolini and Xtone sit at the higher end; mid-range options land nearer the bottom. The number moves with slab brand, edge detail and how many cutouts the job needs. We measure, fabricate and install most projects within 7–10 days of approval.
