How are porcelain slabs installed in showers?
Porcelain shower walls install in several stages, with multiple template visits before bonding. The process starts with substrate prep. We confirm the wall is dead-flat and waterproofed before anything else. Next come the templates — usually two or three sessions to capture every cutout, niche, and curb. The slabs get cut to those templates in our Alpharetta shop, then dry-fit on site to confirm everything lines up. Once dry-fit passes, we bond with a porcelain-rated adhesive and set each panel with mechanical support until cure. Seams get filled with a color-matched epoxy that disappears at arm’s length. The full install takes longer than typical countertop work because every step has to be right. Skipping a template visit or rushing the substrate is what causes cracks down the line. We don’t skip steps.
