Can You Use Porcelain Tile for Countertops?
No. And we’ll be straight: large-format slab is all we fabricate.
That’s our bias, so here’s the actual mechanism. Tile means grout, and grout is porous. A 12 or 24-inch tile turns a counter into dozens of joints that stain, hold bacteria and start looking dated. Sealing them helps for a while. It doesn’t hold.
The honest part is that tile is cheaper up front, and that’s a real reason people consider it. What a slab buys you is one surface up to 126 by 63 inches. A normal kitchen gets one or two seams instead of a grid. Same fired porcelain, same heat resistance, no grout to maintain.
If tile is where the budget has to land, we’re not the right shop for that job. Get a slab number first though. It’s often closer than people expect.
